


Burgundy – A historical land whose name comes from the Burgundian tribes inhabiting it. Currently, the region is famous for its world-famous Burgundy wines and delicious cuisine. Dijon is the capital here. This region is located in central France.

Wine: In most cases, the wines produced in this region come from pinot noir and chardonnay grapes, but we should not forget about aligote, gamay and many others, which are a minority.

- Fontenay Abbey – founded in the 12th century and is the oldest Cistercian abbey in Europe. A beautiful church, forge, dovecote, chapel, library and gardens are just some of the places worth visiting. The abbey is very popular among tourists.

The Basilica of St Mary Magdalene at Vézelay
- St. Basilica Mary Magdalene de Vélazy – a masterpiece of Burgundian Romanesque art. The temple was built in the 12th century and was an important center for pilgrims to Santiago de Compostella.

- The Château is set in a magnificent wooded valley and features a remarkable décor created by Roger de Rabutin, Comte de Bussy. The castle is surrounded by beautiful gardens and forums. And inside the castles there is a portrait museum.

The Abbey of Cluny
- Cluny Abbey – the foyer of the Reformation of the Benedictine Order. The abbey was founded in the Middle Ages and was an intellectual center in the area.
