Location

Celje is located at the confluence of the Savinja and Voglajna rivers in the Lower Savinja Valley. It’s a city in central Slovenia, about 35 miles (56 km) northeast of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.

Celje Castle

Celje Castle was once the largest fortification on Slovenian territory. In the western section of the castle, there was a building with several floors. Remains of the walls of this palatium have survived. In the eastern section, there was an enclosed courtyard with large water reservoirs. Situated on a promontory two miles south east of the town, Celje Castle was built in the early 13th century by the Vovbržani family.

Celje Hall

Celje National Hall (Narodni dom) is the town hall in Celje which was built in 1895–1896.

Saint Daniel’s Cathedral

Celje Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Prophet Daniel in Celje, Slovenia. It has been the episcopal seat of the diocese of Celje since the creation of the diocese in 2006.
