Malaga is a city in southern Spain, in the Andalusia region. Located on the Costa del Sol, the Sunny Coast of the Mediterranean, at the foot of the Betic Mountains, 100 kilometers east of the Strait of Gibraltar and approximately 130 kilometers north of Africa.
Climate
The sun shines in Malaga most of the year. The coldest months there are November and December. The average annual air temperature in Malaga is 18.5ºC. Typical weather in Málaga throughout the year: In summer, hot days last for weeks, and the temperature in Malaga rarely reaches 40ºC.
The rainiest time of year for Malaga residents is autumn. During the two months of November and December, the temperature fluctuates between 20-25ºC in the afternoon to 10-15ºC at night and in the morning.
The average temperature in January and February is 12ºC. There are no frosts. Between October and December the air temperature in Malaga is very pleasant and amounts to. Already in April, the nights become warm, it is a dozen or so degrees above zero. It happens that the temperature during the day even exceeds 30º.

Travelers most often visit here the beaches, the old town, museums, churches and fortifications. It is worth going to the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, which is now a museum. Other interesting places include:
Alcazaba – fortress in Malaga
- The Alcazaba is an ancient Moorish fortress built on a Phoenician fortification that was also used later by the Romans. Without any doubt the situation of this place above the sea with a great view of the area was a great strategic advantage of which every civilization based on the Mediterranean would take advantage.
Located on Mount Gibralfaro and near the centerre of the city with an area of 15000 square meters, however history shows the size of Alcazaba area was more than double than this in the past.
Gibralfaro Castle Malaga
- The magnificent Castillo de Gibralfaro sits on a high hill overlooking Malaga city and port, and dates back to the 10th century. The image of Gibralfaro is well known: you can see it in both Malaga city and province’s seal and flag.
The hill where the Gibralfaro is situated forms part of the Montes de Malaga mountain range, located to the east and north of Malaga city – this land is protected by the Montes’ natural park status.
Museo Carmen Thyssen
- The permanent collection rooms of the Carmen Thyssen Málaga Museum offer a journey through Spanish art of the 19th and early 20th centuries, with particular emphasis on Andalusian landscape painting and traditional scenes. The works are in the private collection of Baroness Carmen Thyssen – over 200 works, including an excellent selection of works by old masters (13th-18th centuries)
Museo de Málaga
- Museo de Málaga is a museum in Málaga that includes the collections of the former Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes and Museo Arqueológico Provincial. The museum has a collection of over 2,000 works related to fine arts and over 15,000 related to archeology.
La Concepción
- Jardín Botánico-Histórico La Concepción It is a romantic garden with winding paths, ponds, waterfalls and streams, with lush semi-tropical vegetation and magnificent specimens of ficuses, palms and spectacular araucarias. It is also worth paying attention to the Loringiano Museum, a small temple in the Doric style and a beautiful pergola with wisteria near the palace.
La Malagueta beach

Plaza de toros de La Malagueta, Malaga

This arena was built in 1874 and since then has been an integral part of the culture of the Malaga population, attracting bullfighting enthusiasts from all over the world. La Malagueta can accommodate approximately 9,000 spectators and is one of the most important plazas de toros in Spain.
El Centre Pompidou de Málaga

Until now, the only derivative of the Pompidou Center was the Pompidou-Metz located in northern France. The collection in Málaga, called “Pompidou Málaga”, is the first branch located outside France, which is a very great distinction for the city.
Malaga Cathedral
- The Cathedral of La Encarnación (The Incarnation) is one of the city’s most important monuments. The south tower and main facade are unfinished. It is located in the old part of the city. The building is located where the Aljama mosque existed. The cathedral has its own gardens and a wonderful patio.
