Attractions
Castillo de Santa Bárbara
At the top of the Benacantil hill that overlooks the city. There is the Medieval Castillo de Santa Bárbara which is one of the main attractions of Alicante. The castle served as a defensive fortress even when these areas were under Muslim rule. When the castle began to lose its importance, it was turned into a prison. Today, this place attracts visitors primarily with its fantastic views and the remains of the fortress that will take us on a historical journey.
Explanada de España
It’s nice to walk along the Explanada de España promenade (also known as Paseo de la Explanada) among the splashes and seaside atmosphere. The characteristic wide 500-meter promenade runs parallel to the waterfront, along the port. It begins in Puerta del Mar and stretches to Parque de Canalejas.
Casa carbonell
Casa Carbonell – The Carbonell House, is one of the most famous buildings in the city of Alicante. Facing the Plaza del Mar and the Port, its silhouette is one of the most fascinating maritime facades.

Playa del Postiguet

Paseo Volado
Walks by the sea during the day or at sunset are very atmospheric, so it is worth taking a walk along the Paseo Volado pier. From where you can see the view of the ships rocking on the waves, Postiguet beach and the hill with the castle of St. Barbara.
El Carrer dels Bolets
El Carrer dels Bolets is a unique, fairy-tale street that is difficult to find in other cities. Almost 4-meter-high mushrooms give it a unique atmosphere, making it look like a fairy-tale land. Snails and ants sat on some of the mushrooms placed here. Others can be entered and are in the form of a slide. The street is a friendly place for children and adults because it pleases the eye with various colors. You absolutely have to come here.
There are also museums in Alicante. Many of them can be visited for free! While in Alicante, you can visit the MARQ Archaeological Museum, the MACA Museum of Modern Art (free), the MUBAG Museum of Fine Arts (free), the MUSA City Museum (free), the Water Museum (free) and the Ocean Race Museum (free).
Culinary Alicante
Culinary in Alicante is mostly typical Spanish cuisine. Typical flavors of Spain are seafood and fish, delicious meats and cheeses, famous patatas bravas, delicious vegetables and juicy fruits, snacks. Of course, we can also find delicious wines here. However, we can highlight Alicante’s local dishes arròs a banda, i.e. rice with fish stock and seafood. This is a completely different dish than the famous paela. If you are looking for a truly local dish, this is the taste of Alicante. It is also worth paying attention to turron, i.e. almond nougat.
