Pergusa Lake

Lake Pergusa, the only natural lake in Sicily. Situated a few kilometers from Enna, this natural basin was a reference point for migratory fauna, in particular for numerous species of birds that stopped there on their way between Africa and Europe. Moreover, Lake Pergusa was known since antiquity and linked to numerous legends, such as that of the Rape of Proserpine.It’s a popular summer hang-out with a few compact beaches, big resort-style hotels and an unlikely motor-racing circuit, but out of season it’s a rather forlorn place.

Lombardia Castle

The original castle was built by the Saracens and later reinforced by the Normans; Frederick II of Hohenstaufen ordered that a powerful curtain wall be built with towers on every side.
Enna’s Castello di Lombardia has its origin back in the 13th century and was built by Frederick II of Aragon as his summer house.Under the castle was the ancient Sican temple of Ceres, origin of the widespread of the cult of goddess Ceres.
It is of a mighty and pentagonal shaped construction with strong massive walls and 6 remaining towers (originally there were 20). If you climb up the tallest one, the Torre Pisana you will be rewarded with great panoramic views of Enna. With the advent of the artillery, the castle lost its primary strategic role and was turned into a prison. There are still theatrical and musical performances taking place in summer.
Torre Ottagonale, detta di Federico II

The Torre di Federico II is an octagonal medieval tower located in a public park near the southern end of the city. It is believed to have been built by Emperor Frederick II in the 13th century, probably as a hunting pavilion or lookout point. The tower can be climbed for views of the surrounding hills and the city’s rooftops. The park around it is a popular place for walks and quiet breaks. The tower is 27 meters high and has an octagonal elevation. It is located in the heart of the alpine mountain range of the city of Enna, over 950 meters above sea level.
Rocca di Cerere

Park Authority Mining Floristella Grottacalda

The Floristella Grottacalda Mining Park was established in 1991 and takes its name from two sulfur mines, active from the end of the 18th century to 1987 .Extends over 400 hectares.Following the wars then the extraction decreased further, until then all the mines were closed. Rising over 900 meters above sea level, it offers spectacular views stretching as far as Mount Etna and the valleys below. Its steep cliffs made it a natural defensive stronghold throughout history.
Museo Archeologico di Aidone

The Regional Archaeological Museum of Aidone, founded in 1984, exhibits a selection of finds from the Morgantina area. The museum is located in the former Convent of the Capuchin Fathers, built between 1611 and 1613 under the regency of Father Gregorio da Castrogiovanni.
The museum illustrates the history of Morgantina from the Bronze Age to the Roman-Republican age. The site of Morgantina was inhabited since prehistoric times. The oldest remains known to date of a settlement were found on the Cittadella hill and date back to the 13th century BC.
Granfonte

The Granfonte is a monumental fountain built in Renaissance-Baroque style located in Leonforte. It was built by Prince N. Placido Branciforti on the remains of an ancient Arab fountain called “Fonte di Tavi”, it was the usual meeting place for the population and, with its twenty-four spouts, also the public drinking trough.
Enna Cathedral


Cattedrale di Maria Santissima della Visitazione is a 14th-century cathedral that combines Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements. The richly decorated interior includes wooden ceilings, marble altars and works by notable Sicilian artists. Located on Piazza Mazzini, the cathedral is central to local religious festivals. It remains an active place of worship with daily services and guided visits.
