Location
Minden is a small town situated about 85 km north-east of Paderborn. The town extends along both sides of the River Weser and is surrounded by Wiehen hills. Minden is located in the central part of Germany, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Minden Aqueduct (Wasserstraßenkreuz Minden)

It is the shortest connection between the Mittelland Canal and the Weser River – the shaft lock at the Minden waterway junction is considered a technical attraction of the city.
In addition, a 2 km long visitor route allows visitors to experience the lock system, the canal bridges over the Weser, the pumping station, and the monument to Leo Sympher, the inventor of the Mittelland Canal.
Schachtschleuse Minden

The Minden Schachtschleuse (Shaft Lock) is a remarkable engineering facility. It provides an important connection between the Mittelland Canal and the Weser River and is an integral part of the Minden Waterway Junction. The Schachtschleuse was built between 1911 and 1914 and has been a listed building since 1987.
Emperor William Monument

This giant memorial (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Denkmal) commemorates Emperor William I.
It is one of hundreds of Kaiser Wilhelm monuments that were to serve as a “consolidation of the nation”, along with other great monuments.
Minden Old Town

Minden Museum Railway

Minden Museum Railway is one of the key visitor attractions of Minden. Dedicated to the long-standing history of railways of the region, the museum was established in the year 1977 with an aim to conserve ancient rail wagons. It now exhibits an array of steam locomotives.
Mindener Museum

The museum is located in the Museumrij, consisting of her buildings from the Western Renaissance. There are large windows within the buildings: stucco ornaments, stone reliefs, open hair of a 16-foot frame and steel spurs of the front doors, making the museum furniture of the most important tentoon setting.
Special tent tents over the area, art in the culture of the city and region, the former prince bisdom of Minden and the Huidige district of Minden-Lübbecke, have been built on 650 square meters of tent tents.
St. Mary’s Church (St. Marienkirche)

The Church of St. Mary is a three-nave hall church with Gothic side aisles and a tower added around 1255.The Renaissance baptismal font from 1598, made by the sculptor Kleffemeier from Obernkirchen, represents the artistic heritage of the church.
The building contains a Gothic chapel in the tower, which served as a choir specially designated for the collegiate ladies.
Minden Cathedral

Minden Cathedral, dedicated to Saints Gorgonius and Peter, is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Minden. Today the church belongs to the diocese of Paderborn. Initially a bishop’s church founded around 800 by Charlemagne, it evolved architecturally from a simple hall church to the current Gothic hall church with a Romanesque style.
