Trutnov náměstí (Trutnov Square)

The rectangular historical square is made up of houses with arcades, whose current appearance with elements of Baroque, Classicism and Art Nouveau dates from the 18th to the 20th century. On the north side stands the old town hall building, originally Renaissance and rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style after a fire in 1861.

Every year from May to September, a statue of a dragon, which is the symbol of the city, is hung on the town hall tower. One of the architectural dominants of Krakonoš Square is the building of the former Haas Palace with a neo-Renaissance facade. The square houses the Krakonoš Fountain with a replica of the original statue of the Lord of the Mountains and smaller statues of dwarfs – elves, the Holy Trinity Column and a larger-than-life statue of Emperor Joseph II. (a bronze cast of the original statue).
