Stocherkahnrennen

The big punting race takes place on the Neckar once a year. The teams, which consist of associations, other student groups and other punting crews, try to navigate or accelerate their boats as quickly as possible around the Neckar Island and twice from different sides through the bottleneck between the Neckar Bridge and Platanenallee.

The eye of the needle is always the busiest place for spectators; this is where many pokers fall into the water. The motto is: “The stick stays with the man”. The start is at the outdoor pool bridge and the finish is at the iron at the railway bridge at the western end of the Neckar Island.
