War Childhood Museum


To show children the past and arouse reflective emotions, go to the Museum of War Childhood in Sarajevo. There are items belonging to children who survived the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the recent conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. The stories of Emina, Vesna, Emir, Hala, Dmytro… According to the UN, about half of all victims of armed conflicts in the world are children and young people.
The museum has collected more than 4,000 objects from all over the world: Its collection includes items from the recent wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Eritrea and even from World War II. The items don’t need to be expensive or rare — they only need to be important reminders of life in conflict. People donate books, toys, stuffed animals, backpacks, improvised games, drawings and documents.
Sarajevska žičara


The Trebevic cable car ride is a great attraction for the whole family and adults and children can enjoy wonderful and panoramic views of the city. From the top of Trebević, guests can admire the beautiful panorama of Sarajevo or go for a nature walk to the excursion site Brus or Prvi Šumar, near the Pino Nature Hotel. You can also walk along the remains of the Olympic bobsleigh track and the Čolina Kapa observatory, and relax in one of the many hotel facilities.

An amazing water attraction for families with children is definitely Thermal Riviera Ilidža! It is located a few kilometers from Sarajevo. A complex of outdoor and indoor swimming pools with thermal water and numerous animations offers fun and relaxation. And the Tropical Garden restaurant, located on the Thermal Riviera, offers local and international specialties.
Sarajevo Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track


The site continued as a stop on the World Cup circuit until the outbreak of the Yugoslav Wars in 1991 and Bosnian War in 1992. During this time, the position of the track on Trebević, looking down on the city of Sarajevo, made it – and many other Winter Olympic sites – one of tactical importance. The track was used as an artillery site by Bosnian Serb forces, and holes were drilled into certain corners of the track for use in combat.
At this site you will have the opportunity to see and walk on the former bobsleigh and luge track, experiencing the most beautiful panoramic views of Sarajevo. It is now a functioning run, used for summer luge training by the Slovakian, Polish, Turkish, Slovenian, Croatian and Serbian national teams – with some leftover graffiti providing an extra bit of flair.
Hastahana Skate Park

Ramps, wallrides, handrails, mini-ramps – do you want to get a taste of urban sport? Yes, in Sarajevo it is possible at Hastahana Skate Park! It is a recreational place for lovers of roller skating, skateboarding, BMX bikes and stunt scooters. If you or your child are involved in such activities, you have a chance to show off your achievements here!
Sunnyland


Sunnyland is an amusement park with facilities for children and adults, and the main attraction is the roller coaster.Adrenaline and driving pleasure – this is the place from which there is the most beautiful view of the city. Sarajevo is surrounded by mountains and the closest is Trebević mountain, where Sunnyland is located. Sunnyland is the first amusement park in Sarajevo with an alpine roller coaster.It’s a beautiful and fun walk from the city center, or a 10-minute car ride.
The many activities can make their day filled with fun. Sunnyland also organizes birthday parties, fun shows for kids etc. There is also a restaurant within the complex, so it’s a good spot for families to spend a whole day or weekend.
Centar Safet Zajko


Safet Zajko Centar in one of the largest and most populated districts of Sarajevo is definitely worth a visit. It’s the perfect place to spend time actively. You can play basketball, run, or use the outdoor gym here. The options are virtually endless; You can also climb rocks, play football, tennis and ice skating. Centar Safet Zajko is truly a place for all generations. Most of the park’s attractions are free, but some require a small fee. It is located about 6 kilometers from the city center, in a district called “Nedzarici”.
Pioneer Valley Zoo


Located just two kilometers from the city center and covering an area of 8.5 hectares, the Sarajevo Zoo, or Pionirska Dolina (Pioneer Valley), is a favorite destination among youngsters.
Aside from nature walks and being able to see several dozen species of animals, Pionirska Dolina offers numerous activities and entertainment for children (electric cars, trains, merry-go-rounds…), as well as playgrounds with slides, seesaws, spinning wheels…
Pionirska dolina has diverse horticultural facilities, and is rich in flora and fauna. If you are an animal lover, you can see over 39 animal species inlcuding llamas, kangaroos, antelopes, zebras, a lion and a lioness, deer, does and other animals from various parts of the world.
