Let us pay attention to the Monument to the Holy Mother of God, a monument in Haskovo. The monument is dedicated to Mary, the mother of Jesus, and was unveiled in 2003. The 31-meter-high monument was entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s tallest statue of the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus.

Perikon, archeological complex
Periokon near the city of Kardzhali Situated on a high hill, Perperikon is a wonderful archaeological complex often referred to as the holy city of antiquity. Archaeological research indicates that this place was inhabited already in the Bronze Age, and its golden period coincided with the rule of the Thracian civilization.
It was here, according to some sources, that there was a famous sanctuary where priests predicted the future using an unusual form of divination – observing the behavior of wine flowing from the altar. Among the many discoveries that attract archaeologists and tourists from all over the world, the gigantic sacrificial altar is particularly impressive, considered one of the most important places of worship in the ancient world. Legend has it that it was here that Alexander the Great learned of his destiny to conquer the world, and many centuries later, Roman leaders sought advice from the gods here.

Thracian Tumulus at Mezek
The Thracian beehive tomb in the village of Mezek (4th – 3rd century BC), Svilengrad commune, is located in the Meltepe mound. In 1908, in the mound, a peasant found a bronze sculpture of a life-size wild boar, weighing 177 kg.
Currently, the find is in the archaeological museum in Istanbul – Turkey, because in 1908 this region was still within the borders of Turkey. A plaster cast of the original is in the museum in Haskovo. The tomb was accidentally found by local residents in 1931. It was the largest and one of the most interesting and impressive beehive tombs of the Mycenaean type in Thrace. Everything has retained its original appearance.

Willa Armira

Willa Armira
Villa Armira was built in the 1st century AD. (villa rustica), is located in south-eastern Bulgaria, near Ivailovgrad. Discovered in 1964, during the construction of a river dam, it is the main historical attraction in the Haskovo region. Recognized as a national cultural monument. The complex of buildings is located approximately 4 km southwest of Ivailovgrad. It got its name from the Armira River, which is a small tributary of the Arda, from which it is approximately 100 m away.
