Sliven located in the eastern part of Bulgaria, the town of Sliven provides a wonderful combination of history, culture and eye-pleasing nature.

Sinite Kamani Nature Park, Blue Mountains: Halkata and Kulata
Definitely, one of the most characteristic places in the city is the Sinite Kamani National Park, the so-called Blue Stones Nature Park. Here you will find unique rock formations, caves and a variety of flora and fauna. Tourists can explore the hiking trails, go rock climbing, or just sit back and admire nature.

Regional History Museum of Sliven
However, in the Historical Museum we will see a collection of artifacts and exhibitions that tell the history of the city, dating back to the beginnings of the Thracian settlement to its role in the fight for Bulgaria’s independence.
The museum also has a place for the famous monument Pantheon of Heroes, commemorating the brave Bulgarians who fought for the freedom of their country.

House-museum Hadzhi Dimitar
The Hadzhi Dimitar House-Museum is an important point of the tour, we can see authentic Bulgarian architecture and fascinating exhibitions devoted to the life and achievements of the national hero, Hadzhi Dimitar.

Drama theatre “St. Kirov”
The new building of Sliven drama theater has been built in 1986.
The theater has two performing spaces – Big stage (484 seats), small stage (121 seats), a ballet hall, two foyer spaces. It is situated in the very heart of the city of Sliven.
The theater presents a diverse program of performances, including plays, operas and ballets.

Tuida Castle
Following history, it is worth visiting Tuida Castle. It was an early Byzantine and medieval fortress, the remains of which are located on the hill of Hisarlaka in the north-east of Sliven, from where there is a unique view of the “Sinite kamani” and the city. Tuida Castle was originally built in the 4th century AD and was in use until the 13th century.
Traditional Sliven Dish

Sliven is famous for its delicious local dishes. Undoubtedly, one of them is the famous “gjuwecz”, a filling stew made of meat, vegetables and spices. Traditional restaurants are waiting to welcome their guests, with dishes whose recipes are passed down from generation to generation.
