Burgas Ethnographic Museum
The Ethnographic Museum in Burgas is located in the former house of the outstanding Bulgarian activist Dimitry Todorov Brakalov. It is a building from 1873. The museum is located near the Cathedral of Saints Methodius and Saint Cyril. The ground floor of the building is the interior of a typical Burgasian house from the 19th century, with a special place dedicated to women’s fashion from this period.
On the second floor of the museum there is the largest collection of traditional costumes of each ethnographic group of the Burgasi region. Among them, ruppies, загорцы, tronki, allians, highlanders and even Bulgarians-settlers who came here from Aegean and Eastern Thrace. In addition, at the exhibition you can see unique costumes for ritual ceremonies and various decorations of the 19th century, which are also related to popular holidays and festival practices.
