Varna – The most Interesting Attractions

Varna is the largest Bulgarian port on the Black Sea. It is situated on a vast, flat, high terrace. It stretches along the north-western shore of the Bay of Varna, cutting deep into the land. There are wide sandy beaches along almost all of Varna.

The monument-mausoleum was opened by Tsar Boris III on August 4, 1935.

Roman Baths – In the center of Varna, apart from numerous cafes and hotels, there is a huge historic gem – the Roman baths complex. The baths in Varna date back to the 2nd century AD. and these are the fourth largest baths in Europe and the largest in the Balkans.

Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Varna – The beautiful Orthodox Church was built in the years 1880-1886 in the Byzantine style. It is a proof of gratitude of the local inhabitants for liberation from Turkish occupation. Inside the church you can admire beautiful icons, stained glass windows and frescoes on the walls.

Golden Sands is one of the most famous and largest beach resorts in Bulgaria, famous for its excellent family and active beach holidays. So called because of the legend that pirate treasures were buried on this coast, which eventually turned into golden sand, covering the entire coast along the resort. The beach is located 18 km from Varna, in a national park.

The Aladzha rock monastery is located in the Golden Sands National Park and is about 4 km from the famous seaside resort, so if you want, you can go on foot to get there, or if you can’t, you can come here by car or bus.
