Monument to the Asenovich Dynasty

The monument was created to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the uprising of Peter and Asen in 1185 and the restoration of the independent Bulgarian state, but what the creators managed to achieve far exceeds the initial intentions.

The main element of the monument is a high sword, which symbolizes the strength and renewed Bulgarian state. Around the sword there are statues of 4 people represented from the dynasty.

Church of the Holy Forty Martyrs

Church of the Holy Forty Martys -It was built in 1230 to commemorate the victory of Tsar Ivan Asen II of Bulgaria over Theodore Angelos Doukas Komnenos – the ruler of Epirus. The church consists of two parts: an elongated basilica with six columns and an annex added later to the western side of the building.
