Yambol is a city in southeastern Bulgaria and the administrative center of the Yambol district. The City is the only one in the Yambol commune, on the Tunja River. The distance from Sofia is 300 km.

Fact: Yamboł is the industrial and commercial center of a region of developed agriculture; food and textile industry; railway and road junction; health resort with mineral springs.

To learn more about the history of this region, visit the Yambol Historical Museum, located in a two-story building in the city center. It was established in 1952 as a natural successor to local scientific and archaeological societies.

Currently, the collections number approximately 93,000 exhibits, some of which are of great artistic and historical value. The museum’s exhibition is divided into several sections: Prehistory, Antiquity, Middle Ages, Numismatics, National Renaissance, Ethnography, Modern History and Contemporary History.

You cannot miss the church of St. in Yambol. George, the most important cultural and religious center in the city.

Bezisten Yambol with interactive museum

 

The interactive museum “Bezisten” is the main tourist attraction in Yambol. The Bezisten Yambol (roofed marker) is the only building of its type to have survived from the days of Ottoman domination. In the 15th-17th centuries, it is considered one of the most beautiful covered markets in the Balkans, and is also a reference point for public buildings for civil needs in the Ottoman Empire.

The halls are divided past, present and future. The “Past” level offers a virtual journey through different historical eras. The multimedia system contains 86 audio and video information in 5 languages. This is a great way to take a historical and exciting journey into the past.

Museum of combat glory, Yamboł

Head to the Museum of Battle Glory, one of Bulgaria’s top attractions. Marvel at the huge collection of tanks, fighters, helicopters, weapons, equipment, photos, etc. This is a must-see! Photos are allowed on our tour and you can take as many as you want with you! The museum aims to preserve the memory and pay tribute to all the soldiers of the city and the region in the period from the liberation of Bulgaria to the present.
