A picturesque town in Croatia – Labin

Labin is a city in Croatia, in Istria County, the seat of the city of Labin. It is located in the southeast of Istria, about 5 kilometers from the Adriatic coast and the port of Rabac. The old town is located on a hill and dominates the newer parts of the city. In the city you can visit the lapidarium. There is a food and clothing industry here.

  • Porta Sanfior, a Renaissance city gate whose distinctive feature is the decoration in the form of a beautiful Venetian lion.
  • The Baroque Batiala-Lazzarini Palace (now home to the Municipal Museum), the 10th-century Romanesque church of St. Justus, and the remains of the former Venetian Fortress of Revelin.
  • In Labin we can also reach several churches, the oldest of which is the small Romanesque church of St. Just. Elements of frescoes from the 14th century have been preserved there. The parish church of St. Mary was built in the 14th century, and there are paintings by Venetian artists from the 17th century. 
  • Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary dating from the 16th century.
  • The Dubrova Sculpture Park in Labin is located at the very entrance to Labin, from the Rijeka side, next to the restaurant of the same name. It stretches over 40 hectares and offers an unforgettable walk with famous artists from Croatia and the world. It is located in a picturesque forest, near the Franković family estate, which was built in the 17th century. The park is fenced with plasterboard and divided into 16 artistic-spatial sections with trails shaped by famous domestic artists such as Edo Murtić and Julije Knifer.

There are many restaurants in the city with delicious food. The menu of the restaurants is very diverse and everyone will find something for themselves, regardless of whether we want to try Croatian specialties or prefer international dishes.
