Czech Republic: ZOO Safari – Dvur Kralove

In Dvur Kralove there is a wonderful zoo, one of the largest in the Czech Republic, located on an area of ​​over 60 hectares. You will find many interesting exhibitions in the pavilions: Predatory Animals (including impressive lions, cheetahs, leopards), Bird World, Dinosaur World, Flamingo World, Okapi, Monkeys, Orangutans, Water World, Elephant World and many others. Dvur Kralove ZOO, as the name suggests, is located in the town of Dvur Kralove nad Labem, about 50 km from the Polish-Czech border in Kudowa. It has the largest collection of African animals in Europe. In the zoo you can see the gallery of Zdenek Burian’s paintings.

How to get around the ZOO Safari ?

The Dvůr Králové Safari Park is divided into three parts – the classic pedestrian part of the park, walking safari and car safari. The latter consists of Josef Wagner’s African Safari and the Lion’s Safari. Visitors who go on this ride will have a route of approximately 5.5 km.

Safari is a vast enclosure that is currently inhabited by over 100 African and Asian animals. To see them, you need to take a Safari Express ride. Safari Express moves slowly around the enclosures, directly among the animals. The journey time is 15 to 20 minutes.

The ZOO has many interesting pavilions, such as: the Madagascar Tropical Forest, where you can walk in the rainforest, the African Savannah, where you will find animals typical of this region of the world, or the South African village of Gwanda, where you will find animals with typical decor and useful tools. in an African village. In addition to the main part of the safari, you can also explore the part of the safari with lions, but strict safety restrictions await us here, because lions are free here. You can also go through part of the safari on foot and meet giraffes, zebras and rhinos along the way.
