In the spring and summer season, their courtyards will be enlivened by numerous cultural events: concerts, theater performances, fairs with demonstrations of crafts, ancient dances and fencing. How many castles are there in the Czech Republic?
In the Czech Republic there is a deity of castles, there are almost 3,000 of them (along with the runes). They are located in various magical places; over rivers, on rocks, forested slopes or basin hills.
Cervena Lhota Castle (Zámek Červená Lhota)
The beautiful romantic castle is located near Jindřichův Hradec, among dense spruce forests. This fairy-tale palace, known from many popular film fairy tales. Červená Lhota has unusual red walls that are picturesquely reflected in the surrounding pond. The palace covers the entire surface of the rocky island. To get there, you need to cross a 17th-century stone bridge, which was built to replace a wooden bridge. Below the bridge there is a small French-style garden.
The State Chateau of Hluboka (Státní zámek Hluboká)
Hluboká Castle is a truly unique place that attracts history lovers, romantics and sports fans alike. The building is wonderful and the observation tower offers an amazing view. Along with the castle, there is also a vast landscape park at your disposal, which adds charm to the place.
When visiting Hluboká Castle, you have the opportunity to discover 140 halls and 11 towers, giving you many options for exploration. You can see private rooms and stately rooms that are lavish and decorated with carved wall coverings, coffered ceilings, elegant furniture, crystal chandeliers and valuable collections of works of art, silver, porcelain and tapestries. It is also worth climbing the observation tower, from where there is a beautiful view of the surrounding area. You cannot forget to visit the castle kitchen, where many kitchen appliances from the 19th and 20th centuries have been preserved.
Palace in Lednice (Palác v Lednici)
The Palace in Lednica is the jewel of the Lednice-Valtice complex and at the same time one of the most beautiful neo-Gothic complexes in Europe. There are several sightseeing routes leading through the palace interior. You can see the ceremonial halls, visit the princely apartments, the rooms of the little princes and princesses and the Doll Museum. Also noteworthy are the French garden with a palm house, the Masonic garden and the palace park, which naturally blends with the surrounding landscape. In the park you can also discover several islets and the Moorish Waterworks with a marina from which cruises depart.
Orlík Castle ( Zámek Orlík )
The wonderfully situated Orlík nad Vltavou castle is located in the village of the same name. Leendy says that Orlík received its name because of its location high above the valley and therefore looked like an eagle’s nest. The change occurred during the construction of the Orlicka Dam, the valley was flooded and therefore the Orlík Castle does not rise high above the water level. Near the castle there is a vast English park with the Schwarzenberg tomb.
Litomysl Castle (Zámek Litomyšl)
The magnificent Litomyšl Castle tempts you with relaxation and a journey into history. The magnificent Renaissance square is impressive. It is worth walking through the romantic gardens or seeing the works of the Portmoneum museum.
Castle Lesna (Zámek Lešná)
Lešná Castle is one of the youngest noble residences in Moravia. The fairy-tale building is a perfect example of noble life at the beginning of the 20th century. The original owners of the castle, the Counts of Seilern, built a luxurious residence between 1887 and 1893, equipped with all the amenities of the time, including water supply, central heating, a home telephone, spacious bathrooms and flushing toilets.
Exceptionally well-preserved interiors with original furniture and home accessories will delight every visitor. An important part of the interior is also an interesting collection of objects from around the world. Here you will find works of ivory, ebony, teak, but also ancient and Egyptian excavations. Wedding ceremonies also take place in the most beautiful Hall of Ancestors.
Cesky Sternberk Castle (Zamek Český Šternberk)
Český Šternberk Castle, perched above the river Sázava, which flows through central Bohemia, is an impressive landmark overlooking the surrounding market town, with which it shares its name. The castle, built in the middle of the 13th century, is considered one of the best-preserved examples of early Gothic architecture in the Czech Republic. Unlike many castles and chateaux that can be visited in the Czech lands, Český Šternberk is not a state institution; remains in the hands of the original owners, the Šternberk family.
Castle valtice (Zámek valtice)
The pearl of Valtice is a magnificent baroque palace, which is located in the center of the wine region. It is worth seeing the impressive courtyard of honor, the interior of the palace and the extensive cellars, where the Wine Salon of the Czech Republic is located, a permanent exhibition with the possibility of tasting the best Moravian and Czech wines. It is also worth taking a walk around the extensive palace gardens with the remains of a natural Baroque theater, century-old wine cellars and a herb garden.
Radun Castle (Zamek Raduň)
The castle in Raduń, located a few kilometers from Opava, away from the main roads and tourist trails, is not widely known or visited by crowds of monument lovers. The best way to get to the palace is by car. The palace itself is a beautiful building that is reflected in the Indre River and attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. A nice castle with a large park and a fish pond with swans. Nice for a walk even on a hot day as there are a lot of big trees there. There is a public swimming pool of sorts nearby.
Ploskovice Castle (Zámek Ploskovice)
Ploskovice Castle – a charming Renaissance chateau-type castle in the Baroque style, located in the Czech Republic, in the village of Ploskovice. The castle is built on the edge of an elevated area transformed into a terrace, which is why it appears to be two-story from the north and three-story from the south, and is surrounded by a large park. The castle offers a basic tour – Castle interiors (11 rooms), a tour of the castle grottoes, and for the smallest visitors there is a tour exhibition of teddy bears – Bears in the castle.
Troy Castle (Trojský Zámek)
The Troja Castle we find close proximity to the Prague Zoo. It is a beautiful baroque castle that houses the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague. Currently, paintings by Czech artists of the 19th century are exhibited within the walls of the building, as well as a wine museum. This gem was built by Václav Vojtěch from Štemberk between 1679 and 1685 and he used it as his summer residence.
