The airport takes its name from the town of Kastrup, where it is located. It was established in 1925. Expansion of the airport, begun in 1939, was interrupted by World War II. Approximately 50,000 passengers pass through the airport daily, resulting in nearly 18 million passengers annually (the airport’s capacity is approximately 22 million). *Kastrup Værk, a Baroque industrial building in Tårnby Municipality, Denmark. Kastrup Værk is a historic industrial complex with Baroque-style buildings that produced limestone, tile, and earthenware. The facility had its own harbor on an artificial peninsula and retains well-maintained production buildings. The complex was founded between 1749 and 1753 by German sculptor Jacob Fortling, who settled in Denmark in 1729. The plant supplied building materials for Copenhagen’s expansion during a period of significant urban growth. The plant was an important center for ceramic and tile production, shaping the region’s economy. The preserved buildings demonstrate how this activity influenced the character and development of the surrounding community. The site is conveniently located between Copenhagen Airport and Amager Beach Park, easily accessible from many directions. A 2008 restoration combines apartments and offices, allowing visitors to view the buildings from the outside.
