Alps, Aiguille du Midi

The Alps are the highest mountain range in Europe. It is located in the southern part of the continent, within the borders of 7 countries. Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy are the countries most often associated with the Alps. But also, these mountains are also found in Germany, Slovenia and Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein is the only country located entirely in the Alps. The French Alps constitute a range stretching for approximately 370 km.

Mont Blanc

Mont Blanc (4,807.81 m above sea level) is the highest peak of the Alps in Europe. It is located on the border of Switzerland (canton of Valais), France (departments of Haute-Savoie and Savoie) and Italy (Aosta Valley region).

To protect the extremely valuable nature of this area, 16 nature reserves, 2 landscape parks and the oldest national park in France have been created here. Haute-Savoie is considered a center for alpine skiing.

Dauphiné Alps

The western part of the French Alps includes The Dauphiné Alps. In the central part there is the highest, crystalline massif of Écrins, classified as part of the Outer Crystalline Alps. The chain stretches for approximately 110 km from north to south.

The extension of the Dauphiné Alps towards the west are the mostly limestone Prealps, which include, among others, Chartreuse, Vercors and Dévoluy. It is separated from the Cottian Alps in the east by the Galibier Pass, and from the Graic Alps in the west by the Arc River valley.

The highest peak of the range is Barre des Écrins, which reaches 4,102 m. There are, among others, 32 mountain shelters in the region. There are beech and fir forests here.

Risoul, Hautes-Alpes

The High Alps include: a mosaic of valleys, gorges and high mountain ranges stretching from 500 to 4,102 m above sea level. Large differences in levels and heavy snowfall, characteristic of the neighboring Northern Alps, together with the sun of nearby Provence make for excellent skiing conditions here. Exceptional skiing conditions and beautiful nature attract many travelers.

It is worth visiting Ecrins National Park and Queyras Regional Park.

Provencal Alps, Les Orres

The Provençal Alps are situated along the Durrance Valley in the northwest and the Ligurian Sea coast in the southeast. They are located in the Southern Western Alps. The length is approximately 130 km. the highest peak is Tête de l’Estrop, which reaches a height of 2,961 m.

The beauty of the mountains can also be admired in the summer, with the whole family. There are plenty of trails to choose from here. Ski lifts and cable cars operating in the summer allow us to reach the higher parts of the mountains from which the trails begin. Also short routes, perfect for a walk with children. Les Orres is such a center. The station is located 220 kilometers from Marseille, near the Serre-Ponçon floodplain, in the Hautes-Alpes department.

In summer, Les Orres attracts mountain bike fans. Cyclists can use the lifts. Operating ski lifts are also a good solution for families with children. We can reach an altitude of 2,530 m above sea level.

The Alps Martimes

The Alps Maritimes is a beautiful mountain range located on the French Riviera. This area offers picturesque landscapes, a wealth of fauna and flora and many opportunities for active recreation.

The Alpes Maritimes is a great place for mountain hiking, cycling and climbing. There are many hiking trails of varying difficulty in the Alps, which allow you to admire beautiful views and contact with nature. There are many ski resorts in the area, such as Isola 2000, Auron, and Valberg.

Monte Argentera is the highest peak of the Maritime Alps. It has two peaks: the lower, northern one – Cima Nord dell’Argentera (3,286 m) and the higher, southern one – Cima Sud dell’Argentera (3,297 m).
