Tahiti is a phenomenal island, one of the largest in French Polynesia. Tahiti is located near South America, and the capital of this island is Papeete, which can be found on the west coast. Relax on fabulous beaches, see volcanic mountains, get to know the local people and culture. Holidays in Tahiti are a delight of nature and, of course, the sun.

Tahiti, French Polynesia
In the center, the island is dominated by monumental mountain ranges and lush green valleys surrounding them. Three volcanic peaks tower here: Aorai with beautiful views of the entire island, Orohena, which is the highest peak in French Polynesia (height 2,241 m above sea level), and Le Diademe, proudly raising its mighty crown to the sky.

Te Pari trail
One of the recommended hiking trails is, among others: Te Pari trail, also called the route between the mountain and the ocean. Beautiful views of the mountains and the ocean at the same time… it’s amazing.

Waterfall, Tahiti
Tahiti is also famous for its waterfalls falling from mountain slopes covered with lush vegetation. A particularly recommended place where we can admire this miracle of nature is the Papenoo Valley.

Venus Point Beach, Tahiti
A beautiful place in Tahiti, and one of the most beautiful places you will see, is the black, volcanic beach of Venus. It is located on the north coast, at Venus Point.

Pa’ofa’i Gardens of Papeete, Tahiti
One of the best known and loved green spaces in Tahiti’s capital of Papeete is called Pa’ofa’i Gardens is beautifully landscaped park.
There are many species of plants, including hundreds of trees, walking paths, pools of water lilies, open spaces for recreational activities, and a soccer field, among other features. Admission is free, and restroom facilities are ample and well maintained.

Musée de la perle Wan of Papeete, Tahiti
The Robert WAN Pearl Museum provides a comprehensive guide to the history and legends of pearls, crossing different cultures and civilizations. Visitors to the museum learn how the pearls are grafted and can see a collection of the world’s most beautiful cultured gems.
A highlight of the collection is the largest round Tahitian cultured pearl in existence: a 22mm round Tahitian Silver (grey) of AAA quality, weighing 8.7 grams. Fittings, this pearl is called the “Robert WAN”. The Robert Wan Pearl Museum is a must do activity of the island of Tahiti.

Aerial view of Tahiti
Since the island of Tahiti is quite large, I recommend traveling by car. Visiting it by other means of transport may be troublesome. The loop around the island and the peninsula is 150 km. I recommend exploring the island by car, because just visiting it without stopping takes about 3 hours.
Tahiti is not only a paradise for beach lovers, but also for water sports enthusiasts, such as diving, surfing, water skiing and fishing.
