- In Bayonne you will be able to see the bullring. Although such arenas are usually associated with Spain, especially with Pamplona, the custom of bullfighting has even reached the French Bayonne. During our visit, the arena was closed, so we were not able to look inside, but from the outside you can walk around it and admire the famous bullfighters painted on it. There is also a playground for children near the arena, where you can swing on a wooden bull.
- Walking through the city centre is mainly about admiring the colourful houses. This is definitely our number one hit of this place. The houses are very old, with wooden, colourful parts. Oh, how charming it was there! It is worth going to La rue Port Neuf, which used to be the Port-Neuf canal. You will find some of the most beautiful buildings in the city here. To see as much as possible, we recommend you to wander a bit along the cobbled streets. New wonders will be waiting for you around every bend.

- Also go to one of the bridges over the Nive River, which crosses the city. View of the colorful houses. Nive – French river, a left tributary of the Adour river flowing through the city of Bayonne. It stretches for 78 km through the department of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Its sources are in the Western Pyrenees, in the Basque province of Lower Navarre. It flows into the Adour river in the Basque province of Labourd.

- Cathédrale Sainte-Marie in Bayonne. The city centre is dominated by the 85-metre towers of the Cathédrale Sainte-Marie. The Gothic church stands on the site of a Romanesque cathedral that was destroyed by fire in 1258. The church was completed in the 14th century and its interior is decorated with beautiful paintings and stained glass windows.

- At the Quai Amiral Lespens bridge, you will find a typical, historic carousel for which France is famous. The one in Bayonne dates back to 1900, and you can ride on various animals – bulls, horses, a rooster or a pig. It’s fun not only for the youngest.

- Bayonne is famous for its chocolate. So you will find many shops between the streets where you can taste what hot chocolate from this city tastes like. In Bayonne, the first chocolate factories were established in the 17th century! It was not until several decades later that chocolate was inaugurated at the French court.
