Duisburg has a rich industrial heritage and diverse attractions. Duisburg combines modernity, culture and history. The city was the main trading center on the Rhine River. Today, traces of ancient industry can still be seen in the form of old factories and warehouses that have been transformed for cultural and entertainment purposes. An example of such a transformation is the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, a former industrial area that is now a park, showcasing the city’s industrial heritage through its impressive architecture and extensive green areas.

Tiger and Turtle roller coaster

Metal structure shining in the sun, from a distance it looks like a roller coaster, but in fact it is an observation tower. The landmark is visible from a distance and was built on the site of a former slag heap south of Duisburg. Anyone who climbs the stairs to the loop will be rewarded with a great view. In good weather you can see the view from the center of Duisburg along the Rhine to Düsseldorf. Around the structure you can see the bustling activity of various steel mills and Logport’s huge warehouse areas, but also dense forests.

Duisburg-Nord Nature Park

The Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord is all about leisure, recreation, sport and culture. There is a circular industry trail with information on the past and present. Nature is also flourishing, having reclaimed its terrain from heavy industry in the form of gardens, meadows and stretches of water. Children and young people see the Landschaftspark as one huge adventure playground. There is a giant tunnel slide between two ore bunkers, an open hall for trend sports such as skating and mountain biking, lots of play areas and even an educational farm with horses, donkeys and hens.
Gasometer

The new use of the gasometer, built in 1920, is extremely sporty. Divers can float 13 meters to the bottom and explore a unique underwater landscape. A shipwreck, a plane wreck, two cars, an artificial reef and many other objects invite every diver to explore and discover. The huge steel basin used to serve as an interim storage facility for the so-called blast furnace gas.

Duisburg Zoo

Duisburg Zoo is quite a special place. Over 5,000 animals from all over the world live here. But Duisburg Zoo is not just a home for animals. It is also a great amusement park with lots of green areas for the whole family. In addition to a small zoo, there are playgrounds, a pirate ship and a low ropes course. Thanks to so many interesting attractions, time flies quickly. There are various snack stands and beer gardens throughout the property.
Museum Küppersmühle – Center for Modern Art

Several thousand square meters of exhibition space, a list of artists from Anselm Kiefer to Gerhard Richter, a diverse program and striking architecture in the chic Duisburg inner harbor – that is the MKM Museum Küppersmühle for modern art. Opened in 1999, the MKM Museum Küppersmühle for Modern Art is now one of the leading art museums in the Ruhr Metropolis.
