
Erfurt, located in the heart of Germany, is a stunning city with a fascinating history evident in its preserved medieval architecture and monuments. Domplatz

Cathedral Square is probably the most famous square in Erfurt, home to the Cathedral of Our Lady and the Church of St. Severus. Situated at the foot of Petersberg and on the outskirts of the old town, it offers plenty of space for all kinds of festivals and events. A weekly market is also held here from Monday to Saturday.
Krämerbrücke

One of Erfurt’s top attractions is the Krämerbrücke, the longest bridge in Europe, which is constantly under construction and inhabited by houses. The bridge is lined with half-timbered houses on both sides. It stretches from Benedictine Square in the Old Town to the Small Market Square in the eastern part of the Old Town extension.

Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary


The cathedral with its high Gothic choir, Romanesque part of the tower and late Gothic western hall is the successor of the religious building commissioned by Rome in 724. A 70-step staircase leads from the cathedral square to the cathedral hill, where two former collegiate churches are located.
Molsdorf Palace

The Molsdorf Palace it’s a prestigious residential palace from the 18th century, conversion of a former moated castle into a Baroque country seat, four-wing palace complex with rich sculptural decorations on the south facade, Baroque interior decorations and landscape park. Palace is located in a valley of a landscape park of about eight hectares.
Zitadelle Petersberg Erfurt

This 36-hectare citadel, located on the Petersberg hill northwest of Domplatz, is one of the largest and best-preserved Baroque fortresses in Europe. Built on the site of a Benedictine monastery, the citadel counts Napoleon among the many who occupied and developed it over the centuries.
Augustinerkloster

The unique monument of medieval religious architecture is a nationally and internationally recognized conference and meeting place. The most famous monk and later reformer Martin Luther entered the Augustinian hermit monastery on July 17, 1505 and lived, prayed and worked here until the fall of 1511. The monastery is a stop on the Luther Trail.
Memorial and Education Centre Andreasstraße


In “Andreasstraße” political prisoners of the SED dictatorship are remembered, and at the same time they tell the stories of the brave women and men who, in 1989, dared to occupy the Stasi district administration here for the first time. A free multimedia guide is also available on site, taking guests on a unique tour of the “Places of Peaceful Revolution” through the center of Erfurt.
Natural History Museum

The Museum of Natural History is located in the oldest preserved town house in Gera. In addition to constantly changing special natural history exhibitions, the permanent exhibition offers an overview of the geological foundations and the animal and plant world of Eastern Thuringia. In the deep cellar of the house, the Höhler, attractive minerals from sites all over the world are presented. On the 2nd floor there is the magnificent baroque hall and the historical scholars’ cabinet.
Thuringian Zoo Park

The landscape zoo is located in the north of the Thuringian state capital Erfurt and, with almost 63 hectares, is the third largest zoo in Germany in terms of area. It is home to a total of over 940 animals from all over the world in 136 species. In addition to large herbivores such as elephants, bison, camels and zebras, as well as their companion animal species, there are also predators such as Barbary lions and spotted hyenas and southern cheetahs to be seen here.
