Unusual Animals
Sardinia is home to many rare or unusual animals, such as several species of mammals: the Mediterranean monk seal, the Sarcidano horse, the Giara horse, the albino donkey, the Sardinian wild cat, the mouflon, Sardinian long-eared bat, Sardinian deer, fallow deer,







Birds
Among the many species of interest birds are included Barbary Partridge, Greater Flamingo, Eurasian Griffon Vulture, Eleonora’s Falcon, Western Swamphen, Little Bustard, Audouin’s Gull, Marmora’s Warbler and Corsican Finch.









Sea Creatures
Among the larger sea creatures, when diving in Sardinia you have the opportunity to encounter dolphins, eagle rays and barracudas, as well as the rare sunfish, also known as mola mola.





Lizards
Sardinia and all of Italy, thanks to its Mediterranean climate, are a perfect place for various species of lizards to live. One of them, which lives only in Sardinia and neighboring Corsica, is the Fitzinger’s algyroides lizard. The lizard is also known as the sand lizard.
