Italy is full of charming towns, and Carpi is certainly one of them. Rich history, dazzling architecture and a vibrant cultural scene are the attractions that the city offers. Tourists eagerly visit the majestic Pio Palace. This magnificent palace, built in the 15th century, is a true architectural masterpiece and a testament to the wealth and power of the noble Pio family, which ruled Carpi for centuries. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the beautifully decorated interiors and admire the impressive frescoes decorating the walls, which reveal the city’s illustrious past.

Palazzo dei Pio

Commonly called Castle, it is a vast monumental complex, very complex, made up of fortresses, towers, courtyards and buildings built between the 14th and 17th centuries. The Palazzo dei Pio, commonly called Castle, as we see it now, visually unitary although composed of buildings of different dates and characteristics, is a structure that extends from east to west between the two main squares of the city (the ancient Piazza Re Astolfo to the east and the Renaissance Piazza dei Martiri to the west).
The Palazzo dei Pio offers three integrated exhibition itineraries – the City Museum, the Palace Museum and the Deportee Museum – which offer a comprehensive picture of the city’s events and the huge historical-artistic heritage that has settled locally over the centuries. The City Museum displays evidence of the social, cultural, artistic and artisanal history of the city of Carpi from ancient times to the present day. This is the reorganization of the previous Civic Museum which involved the reorganization of the collections in a chronological key. The collections include heterogeneous materials ranging from ceramic productions, scagliole and Risorgimento relics, through printed volumes and documents, but also to architectural and decorative fragments of the city.
Museum for the Deported

The Museum of Deportation is a place of remembrance, dedicated to the memory of what happened in the Nazi concentration and extermination camps. It was inaugurated in 2002 in Prato, in the hamlet of Figline, thanks to the untiring testimony of some survivors from Prato, who were members of ANED (National Association of Former Deportees), and thanks also to the Municipality of Prato and its firm belief that the institution thus created would promote the cultural and civic growth of its citizens, young and old.
San Bernardino da Siena

San Bernardino da Siena and its adjacent Capuchin Monastery is a Roman Catholic church and monastery in the Baroque style, located on Via Trento Trieste 20 in the center of Carpi, Emilia-Romagna. San Bernardino da Siena is the patron saint of Carpi.
Municipal Theatre

Inaugurated in 1861, the Municipal Theatre in Carpi is an excellent example of an Italian style theatre: a horseshoeshaped auditorium continues up the walls with three circles of boxes and a gallery. Including the stalls it offers almost 600 seats. It was a “Society of Box Owners” that entrusted the architect Cesare Costa with the task of erecting a new theatre on the impressive main square, the Piazza dei Martiri.
Piazza dei Martiri

With its over sixteen thousand square meters of surface area, the Renaissance Piazza dei Martiri is one of the largest squares in Italy. Defined in its current form at the beginning of the sixteenth century, it has represented the political, religious and administrative center of Carpi for five centuries. The square is defined to the west by the fifteenth-century Portico Lungo, to the east by the Palazzo dei Pio complex, and to the north it is closed by the Duomo, founded in 1515.
