Location

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is located southwest of the Italian Peninsula, from which it is separated by the narrow Strait of Messina.
Together with the Aeolian Islands, Aegadians, Pelagic Islands and Pantelleria, it forms an autonomous region in Italy.
The island is home to the active stratovolcano Etna, which has an area of at least 1,250 km². It is the highest volcano in Europe.

Climate
The climate of Sicily is typical of the Mediterranean, characterized by mild winters and hot summers. The average temperature in winter ranges from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius. In turn, summer in Sicily is hot and dry. The average temperature is from 25°C to 35°C, and sometimes even exceeds 40 degrees.

Teatro Antico di Taormina

One of the most famous attractions in Sicily is the Ancient Theater of Taormina. Built by the ancient Greeks around the 3rd century BC, the site was renovated by the Romans about 500 years later. Teratr is still used today. Beautiful columns delight visitors and above them rises the Etna volcano.

Valle dei Templi, Argigento

A wonderful example of religious buildings in the Doric style can be seen in the Valley Of The Temples, or Valle dei Templi. The valley is located in the southern part of Sicily, in the city of Argigento.
Most of the monuments in the Valley of the Temples are not in good condition, including: ruins of the bouleuterion, ruins of the gymnasium, catacombs (Grotta Fragapane), Mausoleum of Teron.
The most important temples in The Valley of the Temples: The Temple of Jupiter, The Temple of the Dioscuri, The Temple of Concordia, The Temple of Heracles, The Temple of Hephaestus and The Temple of Juno.

Palermo Cathedral (Cattedrale di Palermo)

Palermo Cathedral – The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the greatest tourist attractions in the capital of Sicily. The cathedral is characterized by different architectural styles, which makes it look beautiful. This diversity results from the renovation of subsequent parts of the building over the years.


Castle, Erice

A fairy-tale landscape and an amazing atmosphere accompany the location of the Castle in the town of Erice. The castle is located on a rock, the trip to the top and reaching the destination is an amazing adventure.
We are talking about the archaeological zone, popularly known as the Castle of Venus, in fact it is the ancient sanctuary of the Erician Venus.
Erica Castle is a medieval fortress built on a hilltop. In addition to beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding area, the town has cozy houses, narrow streets and an extraordinary atmosphere.

Local delicacies of Sicily:
- Arancini – colorful rice balls These are colorful rice balls stuffed with various ingredients and then breaded and fried.
- Caponata – a traditional delicious vegetable mixture. there are vegetables such as eggplants, tomatoes, onions, celery, capers and olives, stewed in tomato sauce and usually served cold.
- Cassata Siciliana, an exquisite sweet cake. It is a multi-layered cake consisting of sponge cake, ricotta cheese, candied fruit and icing. It is decorated with colorful icing and decorations.
- Panelle, classic chickpea pancakes made of chickpeas, flour and parsley, fried until golden. They are mainly served in the form of a sandwich.
