The Silvio Lai Paleontological Museum is also worth visiting: It was founded in 1993 in the village of Peagna – the museum presents a collection of urban fossils from the nearby Rio Torsero Regional Natural Reserve, dating to the Lower Pliocene period (5.3000000 to 3.6000000 years ago). The museum has a conference room, a laboratory and a small library.
San Bartolomeo al Mare
San Bartolomeo al Mare is a city and a small seaside resort located in Liguria and consists largely of relatively new apartment buildings located right next to the beach. The town has a population of just over 3,000. inhabitants, but holiday apartments – inhabited during the season – give the impression that the city is larger. A tourist looking for the Italian atmosphere, monuments and Italy known from films has nothing to look for here. If someone wants a new apartment with a large balcony, a few dozen meters from the beach, this place is for them. The municipal beach in San Bartolomeo al Mare is a pebble beach. Forte di Santa Tecla
In its almost 270 years of life, the Fort of Santa Tecla has undoubtedly been a protagonist of local history, changing its skin several times but always remaining one of the symbols of the city. Fort Santa Tecla was built around 1755 by the Republic of Genoa, based on a design by the military engineer Giacomo De Sicre. It was built as a show of strength towards the city following the popular uprising of 1753, during which the governor sent by the Genoese was imprisoned by the people of Sanremo.
