What to see in Lisbon?
Lisbon is a city full of history, culture, and beautiful views. Located by the ocean, it has a lot to offer to travelers from all over the world. Strolling through its narrow streets, you can admire colorful houses covered in tiles and listen to the sounds of traditional fado music in local taverns. Lisbon is also a city that combines ancient architecture with modernity, making every corner fascinating.
Lisbon is worth visiting in June because that’s when the Marchas Populares festival takes place. It is one of the most characteristic cultural events in the country, during which local communities prepare and present colorful, musical, and dance parades. During Marchas Populares, different districts of the city showcase their own groups (marchas), which compete for the title of the best parade. Each group consists of residents of a particular area who work together to prepare costumes, decorations, and choreography to present a unique theme or story associated with their neighborhood. Marchas Populares parades are extremely spectacular and colorful, with participants dancing in traditional costumes often adorned with flowers, geometric patterns, and other elements characteristic of Portuguese folk culture. In addition to dance and music, participants also present characteristic scenic elements, such as moving decorations, props, and street paintin.
25th of April Bridge
The 25th of April Bridge in Lisbon is an extraordinary structure that spans the Tagus River, connecting both sides of the city. This suspension bridge is an iconic landmark, reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco due to its similar design and reddish color. The bridge symbolizes the modernity and progress of Portugal, serving as an important communication link between Lisbon and the surrounding areas. Alfama District

Jerónimos Monastery
Built in the early 16th century, the monastery is closely associated with Portugal’s Age of Discovery and serves as evidence of the country’s rich maritime history. One of the most characteristic features of the monastery is its ornate cloister, adorned with intricate carvings depicting maritime motifs, botanical elements, and scenes from the Bible and Portuguese history. The cloister is a masterpiece of Manueline architecture and is considered one of the finest examples of this style in Portugal. The tomb of Vasco da Gama is also located in the church, serving as a poignant reminder of the explorer’s historic achievements.
Rossio Square
