St Andrews is a town in Fife, Scotland, on the North Sea. In 2003, the town had a population of around 16,000. St Andrews is home to Scotland’s oldest university and has some of the oldest golf courses in the world.

- St. Andrews retains its medieval street pattern, with three main streets: North Street (nearest the sea), Market Street and South Street, running west to east towards the ruins of the 12th-century Gothic cathedral. Many of the historic buildings have survived in good condition.
- St Andrews Castle is a ruined medieval fortress located in St Andrews, Scotland. The castle is surrounded by the sea on three sides and a moat protects the fourth. The fortress was founded in 1200 and expanded over the following centuries.

- The University of St Andrews is the oldest Scottish university (third in the UK), founded between 1410 and 1413. It is considered the best university in Scotland, which can be traced to British university rankings, where the University of St Andrews usually ranks with the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. Prince William of Wales studied there from 2001 to 2005.

- St. Andrews is a popular golf resort, home to the world’s oldest golf course, the Old Course. Golf was played in St. Andrews as early as the 15th century, so it is considered the cradle of the sport, as evidenced by the local museum and the fact that Tom Morris, considered a pioneer of professional golf, came from St. Andrews.

- How to get to St Andrews? If you are travelling in a larger group I recommend renting a car in Edinburgh, this will allow you to get to St Andrews quickly and easily (about an hour and a half) and you will also be able to visit other attractions in Fife, such as Anstruther with the best Fish and Chips bar in Scotland, the charming fishing town of Pittenweem, Elie with its cliff climbing and chains or Falkirk Castle. As for public transport, the only way to get here is by bus. Stagecoach offers a direct bus service X59 several times a day. The ticket price is £9.50 (East Scotland DayRider) and the journey time is just under 2 hours.
