Almería is a city in southern Spain, in the Andalusia region, the capital of the province of Almería. Located on the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of the Betic Mountains.

Conjunto Monumental de la Alcazaba de Almería
The most important building in Almea is the Alcazaba Fortress. It is located on the top of a hill in the center of the capital. From the castle you can see all of Almeria, the coast and the sea. The construction of the fortress began in 995.

Almeria Cathedral
The cathedral is located on a square surrounded by tall palm trees. Built in the years 1524-1564, it did not serve as a religious but a defensive fortress. Inside we will see: a baroque altar, an organ from the 18th century, and carved armchairs for priests from the 16th century. Moreover, there is a bell tower outside, consisting of 8 bells.

El Cable Inglés
It is worth paying attention to Cable Inglés located in the port of Almeria. This structure, created in the form of a pier located in deep water, allowed for the mooring of ships with a very large capacity. The height of the structure allowed loading using the force of gravity. The design is very impressive and attracts attention.

Aquarium Costa de Almería
The Roquetas de Mar Aquarium will provide entertainment for the whole family. We will meet underwater creatures from all over the world and admire the inhabitants of the depths up close. The aquarium houses over 300 species of animals. The most interesting thing is visiting various ecosystems, including all kinds of exhibits from the Mediterranean, tropics and ocean.

Oasys Mini Hollywood Theme Park
Oasys Mini Hollywood Theme Park – 30 km from the city, on the edge of the Tabernas Desert, there is the Oasys MiniHollywood amusement park. Decorated in the style of the Wild West, the park was a filming location for many legendary cinema productions. Short scenes from films such as “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and “Lawrence of Arabia” appeared here. This really realistic-looking cowboy settlement, together with an animal reserve and a water park, attracts tourists with children.

La Geoda de Pulpi
In December 1999, members of the Madrid Group of Mineralogists discovered the Pulpí Geode in La Mina Rica. The geode is about 8 meters long and 2 meters high, covered with huge gypsum crystals. It is an amazing phenomenon worth attention.

In Almeria itself you will find several nice beaches, such as Cala Raja, Playa Cabo da Gata, Playa Los Escullos – a beach with dark sand and wonderful views. Whether secluded, without any amenities, quite off the beaten path, Playa Isleta del Moro and many others. In the immediate vicinity of Almeria, you will definitely like neighboring towns such as Roquetas de Mar, San Miguel de Cabo da Gata or Suan Juan de los Terros, where real estate is sold in Spain for foreigners.
Delicious food

In Almeria there are many restaurants and pubs for every budget, where it is worth tasting traditional dishes of the region. The most delicious dishes of Andalusian cuisine include gazpacho, i.e. cold tomato soup with garlic and spices, Jamón bellota – ham from black pigs that eat acorns, chanquetes – small fish deep-fried in breadcrumbs, and, above all, fish and seafood.
