Dunes of Maspalomas
The Maspalomas dunes were formed millions of years ago by the fragmentation of organisms that have since been spread over a large area by the wind. The dunes stretch from the Maspalomas lighthouse to Playa del Ingles, and along their course you can see a variety of wonderful landscapes.
Casa de Colón
Casa de Colón, an impressive building with a western facade, is located in the historic Vegueta district of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Casa de Colón is especially popular today because it was the resting and visiting place of Christopher Columbus on his first voyage in 1492. The Columbus House consists of an indoor museum, a library and a specialized research center. The museum houses a fascinating collection of historical artifacts, antique maps, navigational instruments and documents related to Columbus’ voyages. The most important attractions include reproductions of nautical maps and navigation tools.
Cathedral of Las Palmas
The Cathedral Basilica of Santa Ana is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Canarias and the cathedral’s feast day is celebrated every year on November 26. This structure was the first church ever built in the Canary Islands, which is why this church is considered the most important architectural monument of the Canary Islands.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
In the north-east of Gran Canaria is the capital of this island, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a city open to the sea. Las Canteras Beach is one of the city’s main attractions. Roque Nublo
Nublo is considered one of the largest natural neks in the world, it is a volcanic nek 80 meters high and rising to 1,813 meters above sea level. It is a former place of worship for the aborigines, and its the natural area was protected in 1987 and designated a country park seven years later. Travelers go on a trek with views of the peaks of the island of Gran Canaria Along the Roque Nublo trail.
Cenobio de Valerón
The site of Cenobio de Valerón is one of the most important archaeological sites in Gran Canaria, alongside Cueva Pintada in Gáldar and Maipés in Agaete. This is one of the places you cannot miss while on the island. Not only for archeology enthusiasts, but for all forms of tourism. This archaeological space contains over 350 holes where Aborigines stored food from their crops, such as grains. It is worth coming here and learning about the history of this place.
Palmitos Park
The zoo and botanical park in Palmitos Park is a great place for the whole family. Located in a desert canyon not far from one of the most popular cities on the island – Maspalomas – the park is a great attraction. The area of the Palmitos park is home to many species of unusual animals, colorful birds, reptiles and fish. You will also find amazing vegetation there. We will meet toucans, komodo dragons and exotic spiders terrarium-dwelling and wonderful birds. In the very center of the garden there is a pond, which is a haven for ducks and swans. The Palmitos Park Zoo is also a real dolphinarium and a butterfly pavilion, where you can see species from all over the world.
