Borås is a quiet town, far from large cities such as Stockholm. But it was an important trading point, especially in the textile industry. This heritage is still visible in the city, which is considered the Swedish fashion capital, with numerous design schools and headquarters of famous clothing brands. Moreover, every year Borås hosts a prestigious event – Borås Fashion Week.
The city attracts art lovers thanks to the “No Limit Street Art” project, which transformed the urban space into an open gallery. For culture lovers, Borås offers many museums and galleries. Of particular note are the Abecita Konstmuseum, which specializes in photography and graphics, and the Textilmuseet, a textile museum that testifies to the city’s rich industrial history. There are also lakes close to the city, such as Viskan, offering opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Borås is located in southern Sweden and lies approximately 70 km from Gothenburg, the second largest city in Sweden, and lies on the Viskan River flowing into the Kattegat Strait in the historic province (landskap) of Västergötland.

Barrier-free toilets and baby changing facilities are located in six buildings throughout the Zoo and, like all facilities, are listed on a fold-out map available at the Zoo entrance.
