Bolu Museum
The museum in Bolu is largely an archaeological museum, with some ethnography thrown in. I paid, as usual, more attention to the archaeological objects. Museum founded in 1976 for protection and exhibiting artifacts found in the Bol area, it was opened to visitors in 1981. the museum contains Roman architectural objects such as sacrophagia, tombstones, pedestals, columns, bases, capitals, friezes, architraves and Byzantine baptismal font, architectural and Ottoman objects tombstones with inscriptions.
Yıldırım Beyazıt Cami (Mosque)
It is located in the Büyükcami District, between Pamukçular Street and Büyükcami Street, in the central district of Bolu. The mosque, also known as the Great Mosque, takes its name from Yıldırım Bayezid.
Gerede Keçi Kalesi – Gerede Goat Castle
This castle is on a hill overlooking the surroundings. The castle, dating back to the Byzantine period, was restored in 1992. According to the rumor about the castle, when the city was attacked, the people took shelter in the castle with their goods and animals and defended themselves. Again, in such a situation, the enemy settled around the castle was attacking the castle during the day, but was not successful. The attacks continued for days and food shortages began in the castle.
One night, the people here lit candles on the horns of all the goats in the castle and released them outside the castle. The enemy, who suddenly thought that a large army was approaching them, fled and dispersed, and the people of Gerede were saved from the enemy thanks to their goats. The name of the castle comes from here.
