Side is a partially ancient city with a seaside resort

Side is a city in southern Turkey. There is a seaside resort and a tourist center. In Anatolian languages, the name of the city means pomegranate. During the season, it is a place of rest for thousands of tourists from all over the world. The ancient part of the city with many monuments is located on a picturesque cape.

  • Beaches. Many tourists are attracted by the long and wide beaches in Side. This resort is an excellent choice for a holiday with children in Turkey. There you will find a comfortable bathing area with a gentle descent to the sea. Relaxation on the sandy beach will be made more pleasant by the wonderful views and a favorable microclimate. Thanks to the mountain ranges, the air there is less humid than, for example, in nearby Alanya. In Side you can also try your hand at water sports from rafting to diving with the whole family.
  • Side is a charming holiday resort full of monuments and attractions. When planning a holiday in Side, you must include at least one day to discover the beauty of the ancient world. There you will find an ancient theatre, the remains of three temples of Apollo, Athena and Men – picturesquely situated by the sea – and a bathhouse building at the agora, where today there is an archaeological museum. The remains of a Byzantine hospital with a preserved monumental gate and fountain are also interesting. During the trip, it is also worth seeing the ruins of a 2nd-century library, bathhouse buildings and the temple of Dionysus. A holiday in Side is an excellent choice for history lovers.
  • Side is also a port city, from where you can take a cruise along the coast, up the river to the waterfalls at Manavagata, or a longer trip to the surrounding islands with time for swimming and a meal. There are restaurants and bars serving local cuisine around the port, and although the prices will be high, it is worth trying goat’s milk ice cream or a köfte sandwich. At the end of the trip, we recommend going to Liman Caddesi, where there is a row of souvenir and jewelry shops.
  • Weather. Side has a Mediterranean climate with long summers and mild winters. In spring – in April and May you can enjoy the sun and temperatures above 20°C. Flying to Side during the holiday season, you are almost guaranteed high temperatures and warm sea, which is perfect for sunbathing. In July and August, temperatures are usually above 30°C, and the sea is only a few degrees cooler. We also recommend a holiday in Side in September and October, when it is still warm and the sea is warmed by the summer. Late autumn and winter are also worth visiting Side, the temperatures are pleasant and usually reach a dozen or so degrees, so this is a great time to visit.
  • Among the most interesting hotels for a holiday in Side, we must distinguish two facilities: Seven Seas Hotel Blue and Otium Family Eco Club. We can recommend both hotels for holidays with children due to the extensive animation offer, water slide complexes for people of all ages and shaded playgrounds. Parents will also be able to relax here, there is a “quiet pool” only for adults. We recommend these facilities due to the many attractions and the varied All Inclusive and Ultra All Inclusive offer. Holidays in these hotels are a bull’s eye.
  • Side is a wonderful resort on the Mediterranean coast, located between Antalya and Alanya. It is an excellent choice for a holiday with children and a holiday for couples. Although Side is one of the most popular resorts in Turkey, it resembles a small, quiet town. You will be delighted by the beautiful beaches and wonderful ancient monuments there. See for yourself why it is worth going to Side for a holiday.
