Zografou is known for the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The area is a hub of activity with plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants serving food to students. Despite its vibrant nature, Zografou also offers pockets of peace with several parks and green areas, including Alsos Zografou.
The area is also home to the Gounaropoulos Museum, dedicated to the work of the Greek painter Giorgos Gounaropoulos, presenting the cultural side of this vibrant district of Greece. The other museums are also very interesting. It is worth paying attention to historical monuments that can be loved by enthusiasts of this field and fascinated tourists.

Zografou is a suburban town in the eastern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. To the east of Zografou lies mount Hymettus. The area, being close to the centre of Athens.
Mount Lycabettus

Mount Lycabettus – The most central and highest point of Athens, this limestone sculpture rises 300 meters (984 feet) above sea level.
Visitors climb Lycabettus primarily to admire beautiful 360° views of the city, admire the sunset, and illuminate the night views of the Acropolis, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the ancient Agora, and the Panathenaiko Olympic Stadium.
Kiesariani Monastery

This beautiful Orthodox monastery is located in the forest at the foot of Mount Hymettus, just outside the city. Monks built a monastery in the 11th century above the temple of the goddess Aphrodite.
The frescoes on the church’s ceiling are a fascinating study in Orthodox art. We will follow the trail through the garden to the small church above, a grotto-like chapel sanctuary covered from top to bottom with icons and religious objects.
Anthousa Tower


Anthousa Tower located on the slope of Ymitos near the Asteria Monastery in Anthousa. Its style is reminiscent of the Ottoman period. This version is also supported by the name “Orb”. It was probably one of the many Turkish couledes built by the Turks until the 18th century throughout Greece, either to supervise their tsiffliks, or for aggadian residences, or to serve military purposes.
G. Gounaropoulos Museum


Museum G. Gounaropoulos is a museum is devoted to Greek artist Giorgos Gounaropoulos, who began painting in academic style, then was influenced by impressionism and Paul Cézanne, and eventually developed a very personal surrealistic style.
The museum is housed in the artist’s home and atelier, where it exhibits 40 oil paintings and drawings, his personal belongings and his archive.
Museum of Paleontology and Geology


The collection of the Museum of Paleontology & Geology includes fossils of animals and plants from all over Greece, thus covering more than 300 million years of the geological history of country.
The collection is very rich, with samples recovered since the late 19th century, and it is distinguished for the excellent preservation and uniqueness of its exhibits. It also includes samples from abroad, micropaleontological and stratigraphic collections, and paleoenvironmental reconstructions.
Benaki Museum – Yannis Pappas Studio


The museum educators of Yannis Pappas Studio, adopt a hands-on method to introduce the children into the world of the artist, his sculptures, his paintings as well as his drawings. At the same time, they guide them in his personal studio facilitating their acquaintance with sculptures.
The Yannis Pappas Studio and its contents become a great opportunity for introducing sculpture and painting through the methods, techniques, materials and tools that the artist used in his work.
Museum of Mineralogy and Petrology


The Museum of Mineralogy and Petrology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, has the oldest and most complete mineralogical-petrographic collection in Greece, but also a collection of international importance, since it exhibits world-class mineral specimens.
The Museum belongs to the Faculty of Geology & Geoenvironment located in the University Campus, Zografou, Greece. It includes four halls and laboratory, office and storage areas with a total surface area of approximately 1200 m2.
Marika Kotopouli Museum

The Marika Kotopouli Museum is dedicated to the celebrated Greek actress Marika Kotopouli, a prominent figure in the Greek theater scene during the early 20th century.
The museum is situated in a neoclassical villa in Zografou, which was once Kotopouli’s residence. It showcases a rich collection of personal items, costumes, photographs, and theater memorabilia that offer insights into her life and the evolution of Greek theater.
Zografou beach


Zografou small beach lies south of Vourvourou; it is a beautiful, sand and pebble mixed shore with deep waters, surrounded by rocks.
It is organized with a beach bar run by the camping site located there which makes it ideal for campers but also, water sports lovers. The beach is perfect for diving and snorkelling due to the crystal clear water and diverse marine life, and the beach is surrounded by interesting rocks and trails to explore.
