Mayotte – French Island In The Indian Ocean

Another tourist island, this time in the Indian Ocean, is Mayotte. The island is surrounded by one of the largest coral reefs. The coral thrown out by the water has beautiful shapes and colors as well as unique shells.

Mayotte Lagoon

Mayotte is located in the Comoros archipelago in the Indian Ocean, halfway between Madagascar and Mozambique. Since 2011, it has had the status of an overseas department of France.

Its territory consists of three islets – Grande Terre, where the main city of Mamoudzou is located, Pamanzi (Petite Terre), where the airport is located, and the small, rocky Dzaoudzi, which once served as the capital, and today is connected to Petite Terre by a causeway.

Plage de N’Gouja

N’Gouja is the most popular and beautiful beach in Mayotte, located on the southern tip of the island.

Holidaymakers come here eager to relax against the backdrop of paradise landscapes, exotic ecotourism and unforgettable diving. This beach is an ideal place to explore the underwater world with coral reefs.

Mayotte

The highest peak on the island is Grande-Petite, reaching 660 meters above sea level. Mlima Bénara, because it is what we are talking about here, is an extinct volcano. Its presence makes the land in some areas of Grande very fertile.

Mont Choungui Mountain, Mayotte

In the southern part of the island there is Mont Choungui, a volcanic mountain with a characteristic conical shape. An impressive peak with a height of 593 m. For mountain lovers, climbing is an intense physical effort.

Plage de Sakouli, Mayotte

Plage de Sakouli – A beautiful beach, often frequented by tourists. The drop off on both sides of the beach is excellent. Swimming there is very pleasant with a view of the baobabs. The water is crystal clear.

Lake Dziani

Lake Dziani, located in the Dziani crater, is green due to the presence of chlorophyll microorganisms and the outflow of gases.

The most famous cities that you definitely have to visit: Mayotte MajMamoudzou, Bandrélé, Kani Keli and Dzaoudzi.

Tourists most often admire small, colorful houses – bangas, where the natives live. This island is a popular travel destination for tourists.

Mayotte has a variety of hiking trails to offer. It’s going to be a long walk, exploring nature and admiring beautiful sea landscapes. Beaches and lazing around are recommended for long moments of relaxation.
