  • Marina. In the very center (as in many Norwegian cities) there is a fairly large marina. A walk along the promenade around the local marina is a must-see when visiting this city. It is worth stopping for a moment and resting on one of the benches right by the water. Both in winter and summer (especially during the midnight sun) the marina looks very nice. There are several restaurants and cafes right next to it, so if you want to eat something, head to this area as well.
  • Norsk Luftfartsmuseum. Any fan of aviation and history should include a visit to the Norwegian National Aviation Museum in their Bodø itinerary. Here you can learn more about both civil and military aviation. This museum is 10,000 square meters of exhibition, a flight simulator, and the incredible stories of Norwegian aviation. Allow at least 2 hours for the visit.
  • Stormen Biblioteket. Libraries in Norwegian cities play an important role in the lives of city dwellers. They are a center of culture, learning, meetings, a place of work, but also a place of entertainment for the youngest. This is also the case in this library. The name of the library means storm, which is perfect, considering the location of the city. Stormen is also worth visiting to see its typically Scandinavian style of interior design and to observe the city dwellers for a while.
  • Keiservarden. Without a doubt, the most popular viewpoint in the city is Keiservarden. The hike to this place is not the most difficult, and the panoramic views from the top of the mountain (366 m above sea level) are worth admiring at any time of year. In good weather, you can even see the Lofoten Islands from here. Since 2016, a trail led to this place, opened by Queen Sonja herself, along stone steps laid by Sherpas. This is a great place to admire midnattssol.
  • European Capital of Culture 2024. In 2024, Bodø will be given the honorary title of European Capital of Culture. This is the first time that such a title has been awarded to a city located above the Arctic Circle! On this occasion, the city will host over 1,000 different cultural, sports and gastronomic events. The European Capital of Culture is an initiative that was launched in 1985. The aim of this event is to present and promote for one year a city, region and the entire country selected by the European Union.
