Ålesund: Wonderful Port City

Ålesund is a charming coastal town known for its unique architecture, rich maritime history, and breathtaking fjord views. The city of Alesund is located in the county of More og Romsdal, Western Norway. It’s the capital of Alesund province.The city is surrounded by rugged mountains. Atlantic Sea-Park

Atlantic Sea-Park is one of the most popular attractions in the city – the oceanarium is distinguished by its large area, combining the marine environment with extraordinary architecture. The area is 10,000 m2, of which more than half are carefully prepared exhibitions. The largest aquarium measures 36 m x 17 m. Here we will find, among others: otters, seals and penguins, octopuses, crabs, lobsters, mussels and starfish.

Aksla Viewpoint

One of the best things to do in Ålesund, Norway is the Aksla Viewpoint, which is also known as Fjellstua Viewpoint.The Aksla Viewpoint is located atop the “Town Mountain” in Ålesund, which you can access from the Town Park. From this peaceful little park, you walk up 418 steps and you are surrounded by an amazing view. Ålesund’s beautiful town center, and the beautiful Sunnmøre Alps. If climbing those 418 steps up from the Town Park is unappealing, you can also access Aksla Viewpoint via car, City Train up to Fjellstua, or the hop-on hop-off bus.

Sunnmøre Museum

Sunnmøre Museum is a beautiful open-air museum with 56 old and characteristic houses. Take a stroll between picturesque houses and indoor exhibitions, and learn about Sunnmøre’s cultural and architectural history. Discover the boat collection, one of the largest in Norway, including replicas of Viking ships.

Jugendstilsenteret og KUBE

Jugendstilsenteret is located in the old Swan Pharmacy from 1907 and is both a museum and a national centre of Art Nouveau. Jugendstilsenteret offers insight into this style by means of authentic interiors and objects as well as temporary exhibitions. KUBE is the art museum in the county of Møre og Romsdal and is located in the former branch office building of Norges Bank (1906) in central Ålesund.
