Get to know Strasbourg touristically, not only politically!
A city in northeastern France, located on the German border on the Rhine. Most of you probably associate Strasbourg with the seat of the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights. However, this city has its tourist charm.
Notre-Dame Cathedral is the symbol of Strasbourg. It took about 200 years to build it. Design elements and sculptures that existed in the Middle Ages were restored. Take some time to think about this wonderful and amazing shape, both inside and out. On April 15, 2019, a fire broke out in The Cathedral. The state authorities estimate that the temple will be reopened to believers and tourists on December 8, 2024.
A magical spectacle is provided by a light and sound show – a light show on the facade of the Noter Dame Cathedral. During the summer season, you could admire a wonderful spectacle there every evening. The duration is approximately 10 minutes and is repeated every evening five times every 15 minutes, starting from 10 p.m.
Petite France (Little France) is an extremely charming district of Strasbourg, famous today for its small streets, cafes, hotels and restaurants. It is very eagerly visited by tourists. The houses in this district come from the 16th and 17th centuries and are mostly half-timbered. Near Petite France there is the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
Place Kléber – The main square in the city center is included on the UNESCO national heritage list. The Aubette Palace is adjacent to it, and numerous cultural and sports events take place here. There is also a statue of General Jean-Baptiste Kléber from 1838 in the square.
As the oldest park in the city, the Orangerie is a favorite among young lovers, runners and walkers. Children simply love the playgrounds and the classic children’s car track. It was here that the stork (once threatened with extinction) was reintroduced. Since 1971, over 800 young storks have been born. Today, this beautiful bird, which is also a symbol of Alsace, can be admired at any time of the year. While sailing on the lake, you can feel the romantic atmosphere. The “Pavillon Joséphine” (Joséphine Lodge) hosts numerous exhibitions and local events.
