Salerno is called the underrated pearl of Campania. Most tourists go to the Amalfi Coast and relax among the crowds, and relatively few go to Salerno, which is a mistake. Arechi Castle

The first walls of Arechi Castle, preserved to this day, were built during Byzantine times, in the 6th century. Then the Arechi castle was expanded and changed owners many times, depending on who owned Salerno. One of them – the Lombard prince Arechi II – is commemorated in the name of the monument. Today, there is a restaurant in Arechi Castle, but the place can be visited, so it is worth walking around the defensive walls or visiting the castle museum.
Salerno Promenade – Salerno Lungomare


The Lungomare Trieste of Salerno is one of the landmarks of the city it’s a pedestrian walk directly on the beach, divided across multiple lanes and 2 km long, from the old town centre to the tourist harbor of Piazza della Concordia. The citizen promenade welcomes many people, during summer and winter: it is the privileged place of young people who meet there at any time of day or night, for athletes who prefer physical activity outdoors and families who enjoy a seaside walk.
